A family with young children required an addition to their mid-century kit home in order to care for aging grandparents.

The principal design strategy placed a bedroom suite for the grandparents such that the foyer, living room, dining room and kitchen are shared common space for all three generations.

This, in addition, maintains a degree of privacy for the young family and grand parents whose bedrooms occupy flanking wings of the house.
